Permanent Restorations in Mississauga

For patients missing a tooth or who are facing tooth extraction due to severe decay or damage, picking the right restoration can be a challenge. The Mississauga dentists at Square One Dental are dedicated to helping patients find the right treatment for re-establishing the healthy look and function of your smile. In addition to traditional restorative options, such as bridges and dentures, we also offer permanent teeth with dental implants in Mississauga.

Types of Dental Implants at Square One

Our Mississauga dentists recognize the importance of individualized care. Just as no two smiles are alike, no two dental implant procedures are the same. To better fulfill the diverse needs of our patients, we offer two implant restoration options: traditional dental implants and mini dental implants.
Traditional dental implants rely on three unique components to restore function. The first component, the implant post, is made of biocompatible titanium and is surgically placed into the patient’s jaw. During recovery, the bone and implant post fuse together, stimulating healthy bone volume and ensuring a stable foundation for the future restoration.

Following recovery, an abutment is placed on the post. Sitting above the gum, this second component connects the post with the final part of the implant, the crown. The crown is the only visible part of the dental implant and is designed to match the shape and shade of the surrounding natural teeth.

Mini dental implants utilize the same components as traditional dental implants. However, where traditional implants require multiple dental visits in order to place the post, abutment, and crown, mini dental implants can be placed and restored in one visit.

Mini dental implants are frequently used to stabilize dentures and overdentures, preventing these appliances from shifting uncomfortably during daily wear. Mini dental implants are also an excellent solution for patient lacking sufficient bone density required for traditional dental implants.

Why Dental Implants?

When compared to other restorations, like dentures or fixed bridges, dental implants offer a lasting solution to missing teeth. The implant post is inserted into the jaw and mimics the natural tooth root, thereby supporting bone volume, which prevents further teeth from loosening or falling out. Above the gums, the crown restoration prevents any alignment shifts that can cause secondary dental conditions.

Square One Dental is proud to serve the restorative dentistry needs of patients from Mississauga and the neighboring communities of Oakville, Hornby and Milton. For more information about dental implants, contact our Mississauga dental practice to schedule your implant consultation
